Mr. Jefferson’s Bones has entertained thousands since its inception in 2001. The ensemble is comprised of some of the Shenandoah Valley’s most experienced and talented trombonists and enjoys performing a wide variety of classical, sacred, popular and jazz repertoire. |
The group’s members include, Andy Lankford (associate professor of trombone, James Madison University),Tom McKenzie (noted area trombonist and valley band leader), Niki Lendvay (who joined the group in October 2011), and bass trombonist Robert Mott, whose arrangements and compositions for the ensemble have been published by Cimarron Music Press. |
Notable performances have included headlining Staunton’s “Center Stage! 2009” Concert Series and “Jazz in the Park” summer concert series; developing and presenting a worship musical entitled, "God's Trombones: Jazz and the Gospel" with guest trombonist and recording artist Harry Watters; school assembly concerts for K-12 students; and numerous other local concert and church events, including Christmas at Augusta Stone, and summertime concerts on the Lawn at JMU, Bridgewater, and Massanutten, to name a few. |
